Chennai: An Air India flight scheduled to operate from Dubai to Chennai was grounded late Friday night after a technical issue was detected, leaving 172 passengers and crew members stranded at Dubai airport. The flight was preparing for departure when pilots noticed a technical snag and decided to halt the take-off process as a safety measure.
Following the decision, all passengers and crew were safely asked to disembark the aircraft. They were shifted to airport lounges while airline engineers carried out a detailed inspection of the aircraft. Despite efforts to resolve the issue, the technical problem could not be fixed immediately, leading to the cancellation of the scheduled departure.
Air India later informed passengers that the flight would be rescheduled once the aircraft was declared fully safe for operation. The airline assured travellers that passenger safety remained its top priority and that necessary arrangements were being made until a new departure time was confirmed.
The Dubai-Chennai route is a daily international service and is widely used by Indian expatriates and business travellers. The disruption caused inconvenience to passengers who were expecting to arrive in Chennai early Saturday morning.
Passengers remained at the airport awaiting further updates from the airline regarding alternate travel arrangements. Airline staff were seen assisting travellers and providing information as engineers continued technical checks on the aircraft.
Aviation experts say technical snags, while disruptive, are handled with strict safety protocols, and halting a flight before take-off is a standard precautionary step. They stress that such measures are essential to ensure the safety of passengers and crew on international flights.
