Hanoi, HCMC Reveal Grade 10 Entrance Exam Results

Post by : Shakul

Hundreds of thousands of students in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have officially received the results of the Grade 10 entrance examination for the 2026-2027 academic year. The announcement has drawn widespread attention from students and parents as competition for admission to public high schools remains intense.

Education authorities in both cities released examination scores and admission benchmarks, giving students a clearer picture of their chances of securing seats in their preferred schools.

Hanoi's Top Schools Maintain High Benchmarks

In Hanoi, nearly 125,000 students participated in the admission process for public high schools. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the examination results and cut-off scores on June 19.

Kim Lien High School, Le Quy Don High School–Ha Dong and Yen Hoa High School recorded the highest admission score of 26 points. Phan Dinh Phung High School followed with 25.5 points, while Viet Duc High School, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School and Thang Long High School all posted admission scores of 25.25 points.

Strong Competition for Specialized Schools

Admission to Hanoi's specialized high schools remained highly competitive this year. The highest benchmark reached 43.75 points, reflecting the strong academic performance of candidates and the continued popularity of prestigious schools.

Authorities reported that more than 124,000 students registered for their first-choice schools, while public high schools in the city have a total enrollment capacity of around 79,500 students.

Ho Chi Minh City Announces Specialized Class Scores

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also released Grade 10 examination results on June 19. Along with the results, authorities announced admission benchmarks for specialized and integrated classes.

Several specialized classes saw significant increases in admission scores compared to last year, with some subjects recording increases of more than six points. The highest benchmark in the specialized school system reached 39.25 points.

General School Cut-Off Scores Awaited

Education officials confirmed that cut-off scores for general public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City will be announced after June 23. Authorities are currently completing enrollment verification and processing student confirmation data.

Officials explained that many students admitted to specialized and integrated programs eventually choose not to enroll, making it necessary to finalize enrollment figures before determining accurate admission benchmarks for general schools.

Record Number of Applicants

This year's Grade 10 entrance examination in Ho Chi Minh City attracted more than 151,000 registered candidates, making it the largest enrollment examination in the city's history.

The examination was conducted under the 2018 General Education Program, which focuses on assessing practical application skills, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities among students.

Admission Process Moves Forward

Students who are not satisfied with their results will have the opportunity to submit appeals according to official regulations. Schools in both cities are also beginning enrollment confirmation procedures for successful candidates.

Authorities said the admission process is being carried out smoothly and efficiently, ensuring that students' rights are protected as preparations continue for the new academic year.
