Heavy rain and thunderstorms swept across parts of Johor on Saturday as more than 2.6 million registered voters headed to the polls for the 16th Johor state election. Despite difficult weather conditions, voters continued arriving at polling centres to cast their ballots.
Continuous rain was reported at several polling centres in Muar, including SJK Cina Limbong and SMK Sri Muar. Voters wearing raincoats and carrying umbrellas were seen making their way to polling stations as the voting process continued.
Similar conditions were reported in Johor Bahru, where rain at SMK Bandar Uda Utama did not stop people from voting. Polling operations remained calm and orderly despite the wet weather.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department forecast thunderstorms in several areas, including Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru, Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Kulai, Labis, Mersing, Pasir Gudang, Segamat and Simpang Renggam.
Election Commission chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said rainfall in areas including Muar, Kluang and Johor Bahru could have a slight impact on voter turnout during the afternoon.
Despite possible weather-related disruption, the Election Commission projected voter turnout could reach between 65 and 70 per cent. Weather conditions were expected to improve later in the day, with little or no rain forecast for most areas at night.
Johor voters were choosing representatives for 56 state assembly seats in the state election. Authorities continued monitoring weather conditions as voting proceeded across the state.
