In a tragic incident on March 5, 2026, Usha Chauhan, the wife of Additional District Judge Rajkumar Chauhan, was found dead inside a train washroom while travelling on the Kanchiguda–Bhagat Ki Kothi Express (17606). Authorities suspect a silent heart attack as the cause of death.
The couple were returning from Jodhpur to Nimbahera in Rajasthan, but had reserved seats in different coaches. Shortly before the train reached Nimbahera station, Usha informed her husband over the phone that she was going to the train toilet.
When the train arrived at the station, Judge Chauhan got down and waited on the platform, but his wife never appeared. After searching the coach and failing to find her, he alerted the Government Railway Police (GRP).
Railway officials checked CCTV footage at the station and confirmed that she had not alighted from the train. Her mobile phone’s location indicated she was still aboard, prompting officials to halt the train further along the route.
At Jaora station in Ratlam district, police discovered a locked washroom door inside her reserved coach. They broke the door open to find Usha unconscious inside. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Preliminary assessments by medical professionals suggest she may have suffered a silent heart attack, a condition that can strike without obvious symptoms. The GRP has registered a case and begun further investigation into the circumstances of her death.
After completing formalities, the body was handed over to the family, who declined a post‑mortem examination.
