Malaysia Airlines Launches RM499 Festive Fares

Malaysia Airlines Launches RM499 Festive Fares

Post by : Shakul

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has announced a major festive travel initiative through Malaysia Airlines and Firefly to support rising passenger demand ahead of Hari Raya Aidiladha, Kaamatan, and Gawai celebrations. The airline group confirmed that selected East Malaysia routes will offer capped one-way base fares of RM499 while additional flights will be introduced to accommodate the seasonal travel surge.

According to MAG, Malaysia Airlines will operate 62 extra flights across several high-demand destinations including Kota Bharu, Labuan, Tawau, Sandakan, Kuching, Sibu, and Miri. The airline group stated that the additional flights are intended to help more Malaysians travel home to celebrate major cultural and religious festivals with their families during the busy holiday period.

The special fare promotion will remain available for booking until May 31, 2026. Travelers can use the promotional fares for flights between May 26 and May 29 on selected Malaysia Airlines services to Kota Kinabalu, Labuan, Sandakan, and Tawau. Selected Firefly routes, including flights to Kota Kinabalu and Tawau, are also included in the festive travel initiative.

For passengers traveling to Sarawak, the promotional fares apply to selected travel dates between May 28 and May 31. Malaysia Airlines flights to Kuching, Miri, and Sibu are part of the offer, alongside selected Firefly services to Kuching. Officials stated that the initiative aims to make festive travel more affordable during one of the busiest travel seasons in Malaysia.

MAG said travelers flying with Malaysia Airlines and Firefly will continue receiving several passenger benefits despite the reduced fares. These include complimentary checked baggage, in-flight refreshments, and flexible flight change options under selected fare categories. The airline group emphasized that maintaining passenger comfort and convenience remains a priority even during peak travel periods.

Malaysia Airlines also highlighted the features available under its Flex fare category. Passengers choosing this option can access unlimited booking changes, refund options subject to fare conditions, up to 35 kilograms of checked baggage allowance, seat selection, same-day flight changes, and eligibility for upgrades through Enrich Points. The airline stated that these additional services are designed to provide greater travel flexibility for passengers during the festive season.

Meanwhile, Firefly confirmed that its Flex fare package includes unlimited flight changes with applicable fare differences, 30 kilograms of baggage allowance, complimentary hot meals, seat selection, and priority boarding services. Firefly continues operating flights from both Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang to improve connectivity and convenience for travelers.

Passengers connecting through Malaysia Airlines services can additionally benefit from through-checked baggage and complimentary meals during connecting journeys. MAG stated that operational improvements and upgraded ground processes are also being implemented to ensure smoother airport operations and reduce travel disruptions during the upcoming celebrations.

Malaysia Aviation Group said the initiative reflects its commitment to connecting communities across Malaysia while supporting government efforts to make air travel more affordable during major cultural and religious festivals. The company added that improving accessibility and ensuring reliable travel experiences remain key priorities as more Malaysians prepare to reunite with loved ones during the festive season.
